William E. Carter
President, Board of Directors
William E. Carter Co., Inc
William E. Carter joined Society for the Blind’s Board of Directors in September 2007. He is the owner of the William E. Carter Company, a full service design/build residential/commercial remodeling firm, serving the greater Sacramento area since 1976.
Mr. Carter became local chapter President of the National Association on the Remodeling Industry (NARI) in 2000. He was Regional Vice President from 2001-2003. He rose to the national level to become NARI National President in 2009/2010.
Bryce McAnally

Runyon Saltzman & Einhorn, Inc
Mr. McAnally joined the Society for the Blind Board of Directors in March 2010. He is an account supervisor for Runyon Saltzman & Einhorn where he manages the development, execution and coordination of client advertising (broadcast, radio, print, outdoor and interactive /social media projects) for a variety of agency clients.
Mr. McAnally has an undergraduate degree in Communication Design from California State University-Chico and a MBA and Master's in Market and Organizational Behavior from California State University-Sacramento.
Gary Orr

Gary Orr has been a member of Society for the Blind’s Board of Directors since September 2009. He is a senior vice president and regional manager of the Wells Fargo Commercial Banking Group in Sacramento.
Mr. Orr joined Wells Fargo in 1988 and has held various marketing and credit management positions in the company's commercial and corporate banking groups throughout the country. Prior to joining Wells Fargo, he began his career with PNC Bank graduating from their management training program and serving in their Correspondent and Commercial Banking divisions.
Mr. Orr is a native of Pittsburgh, Pa. and earned his bachelor's degree in business administration and economics from the University of Pittsburgh.
Dawn Cornelius

Dawn Cornelius has been a member of Society for the Blind's Board of Directors since July 2010. Dawn is a principal at Cornelius & Company, a local CPA firm started by her father in December 2004. She specializes in income tax preparation and consulting, and litigation support services.
Dawn has an undergraduate degree in Economics from UC San Diego and an MBA and Master's in Accounting from the University of Washington. In her free time, Dawn enjoys baseball, golf and traveling.
Allison Otto

Otto Construction
Allison Otto joined Society for the Blind's Board of Directors in September, 2007. She has been the Director of Marketing at Otto Construction since 2000. Founded by her grandfather in 1947, this Sacramento-based construction company now employees its third generation of family members.
As the Director of Marketing, Allison’s responsibilities include pursuing project leads, responding to requests for proposals, and maintaining and updating marketing materials. Allison graduated from the University of Southern California with a degree in business management and is currently enrolled in the construction management program at UC Davis. Allison lives in Sacramento and enjoys running, gardening, skiing, and traveling.
Steven Scott
Vision Service Plan
Steve Scott has been with Vision Service Plan (VSP) since 1996. As Vice President of Information Technology, he manages a division of over 250 people. In 2003, he was named by Computerworld magazine as one of the top 100 Information Technology Leaders in the country.
The Information Technology Division is responsible for keeping all of the technical infrastructure running, negotiating for and participating in the purchase of computer and other technical hardware and software, managing technical assets, working with VSP's Business Partners to define requirement for projects using technology to support business initiatives and formulating a future architecture to support VSP's strategic goals and initiatives.
Steve is a graduate of UC Berkeley and is currently pursuing an MBA degree at Sacramento State. Steve is on the Curriculum Committee for the Graduate Management Information Systems Program at Sacramento State. He also volunteers as an eigth grade teacher for the Junior Achievement program. Steve joined the Society for the Blind's Board of Directors in February, 2005.
Stephen M. Lerner

Stephen is an Attorney with Murphy Austin Adams Schoenfeld LLP. He has represented individuals, private businesses, and public agencies in the areas of real estate, business/commercial, and environmental litigation since 1995. He has developed an extensive background in all phases of civil litigation, including successfully litigating to completion jury and bench trials. He also has counseled clients on franchise and environmental related issues.
Prior to his graduation from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, Stephen served as the environmental assistant to the Mayor of San Diego, responsible for developing and implementing programs and policies in the areas of water supply and conservation, parks and open space, air quality, and solid and hazardous waste.
Stephen joined the Society for the Blind Board of Directors in May, 2003. His interest in Society for the Blind stems both from a desire to give back to the Sacramento community, and because his maternal grandmother lost her vision due to diabetes.
Paul Carver
Governor's Office of Emergency Services
Mr. Carver has been an active member of the Society for the Blind Board of Directors since 2000. He is a computer expert who is employed as a Information Systems Analyst for the California Emergency Management Agency (CalEMA) where he is responsible for setting hardware and software standards, drafting IT policy, and leading a team of IT professionals.
CalEMA is responsible for responding to, recovering from, and mitigating damages caused by all types of natural and man-made disasters in California. Mr. Carver is a graduate of the University of California at Davis with a B.S. in Computer Engineering. He is a native of New Hampshire and relocated to California in 1988. He has held numerous elected positions in the National Federation of the Blind, most recently 2nd Vice President of the California organization.
Kevin B. Duggan
Mercy Foundation
Kevin Duggan joined Society for the Blind as Executive Director in April 2004. In March, 2008, he moved on to a new role as Chief Development Officer for the Mercy Foundation at Catholic Healthcare West. Society for the Blind welcomed Mr. Duggan to the Board of Directors at the same time.
Mr. Duggan’s background is in business administration, strategic planning, program design and fundraising. Prior to joining the Society for the Blind, he played an integral role in establishing the M.I.N.D. (Medical Investigation of Neurodevelopmental Disorders) Institute, a research, clinic and education center at the UC Davis Medical Center. Mr. Duggan earned his undergraduate degree and Masters of Business Administration at the University of California, Davis. He lives in Sacramento with his wife and children.
Jerry Farrell
Mr. Farrell joined the Society for the Blind Board of Directors in January 2009. He retired from the Campbell Soup Company after a career of thirty-five years. Mr. Farrell is a member of the Rotary Club of Sacramento. He became interested in serving with an organization which offers assistance to the blind and visually impaired enabling them to live a productive and independent life.
Doris Flint
Doris Flint is a retired teacher and former Trustee for the Delta Gamma Foundation, a philanthropic organization which focuses on volunteerism and donations for the blind and visually impaired. In the past she has functioned as Chairman of the Board for the Delta Gamma Foundation, and President of the Delta Gamma Fraternity. She has also been involved in the Sacramento Junior League and the Sacramento Cerebral Palsy Guild.
Ms. Flint has maintained involvement with the Society for the Blind board for many years. When her mother contracted Macular Degeneration as an older woman, she found help through low vision aids from the Low Vision Clinic and references for one-on-one instruction within her community in Southern California, with help from Society staff.
Mark J. Mannis, M.D.
Dr. Mannis joined Society for the Blind's Board of Directors in July, 2011. He is Professor and Chair of Cornea, External Disease, and Refractice Surgery at the UC Davis Health System Eye Center.
Susan Prudler
Susan Prudler was one of the founding volunteers of Society for the Blind's Low Vision Clinic. She is involved in the Delta Gamma Foundation and an active participant in other civic causes throughout the Sacramento area. Mrs. Prudler is a former secondary school teacher. She joined the Society for the Blind Board of Directors in January, 2006, and is the Co-Chair of the Capital Campaign Committee.
Steve Strong
Steve Strong has been chairing Society for the Blind's annual "Building Independence" golf tournament since 2005. He joined the Society's board in October, 2010. Mr. Strong has a background in the printing industry.
Nancy Tooley
Nancy Tooley, a former teacher, has been involved with the Society for the Blind since the early 1970s. As a member of the Sacramento Delta Gamma Fraternity Alumnae Chapter she has participated in fund raising efforts benefiting the Society for over 30 years. Mrs. Tooley joined the Board of Directors in September, 2007.
Along with the local level, she has been involved with Delta Gamma Fraternity on the regional and national levels. Mrs. Tooley is a member of Sacramento Assistance League and an active contributor to other civic and cultural organizations.
