Founded in 1954, Society for the Blind is the only provider of comprehensive blindness services within the Sacramento region, including the Central Valley and Sierra Foothills.

Our mission is to empower individuals who are blind or have low vision to live productively and independently by building confidence through training, tools and mentorship.

Our unique approach is based on a strong belief in the power of mentorship. The majority of our teaching staff is blind or have low vision which allows our clients to truly connect with someone who is visually impaired and living a productive and independent life.

With the right training and guidance, opportunities to excel in school, work and home dramatically increase for blind youth, adults and seniors.
