JOIN OUR VOLUNTEER TEAM
Provide a Personal Touch
Assist a blind individual or a person who come into our agency requesting reading services on a one-time basis. Time commitment is two to eight hours per month – weekdays, evenings and/or weekends – at a time convenient for both the volunteer and the client.
Note: Personal readers must also complete a supplemental application and in-person screening process. Volunteers must be 18 or older.
Record the News
Access News is a reading service that allows volunteers to record current news, magazines, and other items of interest so that people who can’t read conventional print can listen to these publications through the telephone. Time commitments are very flexible and you can record from home as well as in our studio.
Reach Out and Make a Difference
You can let the community know about us. Participate in annual and one-time outreach events, including senior fairs, health fairs, and disability awareness fairs. The time commitment varies according to the event.
Join in the Fun at Bingo
Society for the Blind receives proceeds from Bingo games held 3 times a week. Games benefiting the Society are played in Citrus Heights on Sunday and Tuesday. Volunteers are needed to run these games. Time commitment is 4-5 hours per game, at least two times per month. Volunteers must be 18 or older.
